Mayor Bennett and other Mayors from the Southwest Suburbs and throughout the State of Illinois campaigned last week in Springfield for Governor Pritzker to stop the decrease of the states contributions into the Local Government Distributive Fund ( LGDF ). The LGDF is used by municipalities to help support day to day operations – from providing services to residents to re-investments into capital infrastructure. Without the LGDF, municipalities would have to explore other means to increase revenue locally to offset this shortfall in order to continue normal operations.
